Angelina Jolie Ad Shut Down Bown the Brits
The UK’s Advertising Standards Authority is recommending that a Wanted ad featuring Angelina be taken off UK TV. The group warned that the commercial makes “using guns was sexy and glamorous”.
The ASA noted that the advert for the 18 certificate movie was not allowed to be screened when younger children were likely to be watching.
But the watchdog ruled it was unsuitable for older children as well.
Universal Pictures have been told that they can’t show the ad in it’s current form. Universal responded that the ad doesn’t air when children are watching. The ASA also objected to the Wanted poster last spring.
It’s important to note the that ASA doesn’t have any real enforcement authority those it does reflect much of the UK”s present legislation regarding TV standards. This is the same group that object to a Wanted poster last year.
