Angelina Jolie Speaks at Council of Foreign of Relations
Angelina was still in New York and yesterday she took spoke to the Council on Foreign Relations Symposium on International Law and Justice. The symposium was underwritten by the Jolie-Pitt Foundation. Speakers included General Wesley Clark, New York Times columnist Nicholas Kristof and Cynthia McFadden, co-anchor of Nightline.
Angelina gave the introductory message at the Dafur session. It focused on the “ICC[International Criminal Court] and international justice more broadly, with special focus on ICC’s case against Sudanese president Omar Hassan al-Bashir.”
In her introduction Angelina talked about the difficulties of decent international courts saying that no refugee should have to choose between “peace or justice.”
The council is “a nonpartisan and independent membership organization. As you can learn by reading our mission statement, CFR has promoted understanding of foreign policy and America’s role in the world since its founding in 1921″
Angelina last appeared in at the CFR in April.

No one should be forced to choose between peace and justice! Very smart!
Does anyone know where the whole speech can be found?

wow- Angelina packs a lot of punches into her address: I found myself crying at her descriptions of these victims of war. I simply can’t admire her enough . . . .

I think she´s a great humanitarian. She has been doing this job for seven years and I think she never has received much appreciation for this side of her work. She has done so much to help those people in third world countries like Sierra Leone, Cambodia and Iraq to name a few. Everyone knows her for her work in movie industry but that´s about it. I recently read her book Notes from My Travels and it was a very touching book. I really recommend that everyone who wants to know her other side (the humanitarian) should read this book. I think that after she and Brad finish their work as actors they will concentrate more on their family and humanitarian work all around the world. And hopefully their children will continue that work some day.

Gracias
