Angelina Jolie Visits Afghanistan
Angelina completed her first post-twins UNHCR trip yesterday. She visited Afghan citizens who’d returned home from neighboring countries like Pakistan.
During her trip, Ms. Jolie visited recent returnees in the eastern province of Nangarhar, where almost 20 per cent of all Afghans who return to the homeland have settled since 2002.
Refugees told Angelina that they are not able to return to their homes of origins because of poor security and lack of land. People who have are still in their home country but are not able to return to their original city and state are classified as internal refugees.
Angelina was impressed with the “the courage, resilience and quiet dignity of returnee families rebuilding their lives against the kind of adversity few of us can imagine shows the human spirit at its best.” She encouraged more international age fore resettling Afghanis.
As always, kudos to Angelina.

Watching this almost made me cry. Seeing those poor people suffer from starvation, poverty and disease is awful but it’s wonderful to see Angelina helping. She’s so beautiful inside and out. God bless her.

The enormous depth of compassion Angelina so obviously feels, and the way in which she uses her celebrity status to help with the most needy of humanitarian causes, pivots her to seem akin to Mother Theresa of Calcutta. Princess Diana, like Angelina, was also similarily inclined to ‘get out there and actually do something herself’, using her celebrity status to try and make a difference. And, likewise, the media would comment that Diana was only after self-glorification; but after her shocking and tragic death, the British people soulfully mourned the loss of a ‘living saviour’ despite their Queen’s efforts to not, initially, acknowledge them. Tony Blair entitled Diana “the people’s princess” - she captured our hearts - just as I find Angelina does (mine).
Today, Diana’s sons show the same compassion and humanity as their mother did - and I somehow feel that the Jolie-Pitt children will do likewise.

I found it ironic that the next video contained wining by celebrities about their problems(?)that seem so insipid when you consider what other people in this world face. Thank goodness for a celebrity like Angie who truly cares.
