Angelina Jolie Watch

Angelina lit up the red carpet Sunday night.  I‘ve scoured the internet for bargains and deals to help you look like the glamorous mom of six, international superstar and humanitarian.

First, the dress.  Edressme has already created a replica of Angelina’s  Elie Saab gown for $258.00.    The gown reproduces everything from the sweetheart bodice to the gathered chiffon.

There were a number of choices for the ring but I narrowed it down to two of contenders.  You can choose from the green crystal submersion ring from  Antrhoplogie($80.00).  This big, ballsy stone best simulates the size of Angelina’s ring.

Emitation’s Aubree’s Estate Emerald CZ Ring($39.50) has a  more intense color and adds a little CZ bling on top of that.

There were were also a number of choices for Angelina’s earrings but I ended up choosing these peridot earrings from Zales. Even though you’re recreating a look, you don’t want to do pieces that are too cheap. I also really like the way these earring simulate the two stone structure of Angie’s emerald earrings.

The hair was gorgeous, the dress stunning and the jewelry breathtaking. Angelina’s 2009 Oscar jewelry is still much talked about a full day later.   Angie wore an oversized emerald earring and ring ensemble designed by Hollywood’s queen of bling, Lorraine Schwartz. Loraine’s most famous piece was the Beyonce’s metallic glove contraption from the  Put a Ring on It/Single Ladies’ video.

I actually listened to Lorianne on NPR and half wondered if Angie had worn any of her jewelry.   Lorraine refused to give any Oscar hints.  Imagine my surprise when Angelina showed wearing these stunning emerald pieces.

According to Maire Loughran, at Suite 101 the ring looked be an “antique cushion cut, which is a modified rectangular shape. The twist to this ring is that the stone is turned at a 90-degree angle so that it’s set on the ring mounting forming a diamond shape rather than a rectangular one.”     Marie gave these details about the earrings, “The emerald drop earrings consisted of two large emeralds; the emerald on the post mirrored the mounting shown on the ring and was about ¼ the size of the briolette shaped emerald drop.”

So she didn’t win but one of he greatest actresses of our time did gush about her performance. It’s not winning but it’s pretty darn nice. During a tribute to the women nominated in the Best Actress category Nicole Kidman commended Angelina for portraying Christine Collins with “heart breaking anguish and steadfast determination” while demonstrating the “enduring power of a mother’s love”. She ended by saying, “Angelina Jolie-you are unforgettable!”

Her Changeling performance received raves across the globe.

Kenneth Turran of the LA Times said: “Jolie brings emotional desperation to a role she quite possibly connected to in ways she wished she hadn’t.”

Colin Covert of Minneapolis Star Tribune said: “Changeling is a brilliant, demanding film, a mystery-cum-character study about which we finally have to make up our own minds.”

I haven’t been able to find out when Benjamin Button comes out on DVD. It’s actually still in a lot of theaters so I’d predict early summer. Check out the photos.

Our 2009 awards season culminates tonight with Angelina and Brad at this year’s Oscars. Angie looks stunning in an Elie Saab gown, jewelry by Lorraine Schwartz, black heels by Faragamao and a Lana Marks clutch. Brad’s tux is by Tom Ford. Just a reminder, like you guys needed it, Angelina’s nominated in the Best Actress category for her role in the Changeling. Brad’s nominated for Best Actor for his lead in The Curious Case of Benjamin Button. Neither have won any of the major awards so far. That puts the odds against them. Still we shouldn’t give up hope.

The 2009 Oscars take place at the Los Angeles Kodak Theater. Huck Jackman hosts. Celeb performers include Beyonce’ and Zac Efron & Vanessa Hudgen.

I’m proclaming Angie’s dress a winner. Figure skimming outfits look so good on her. Check out the pics below. I’ll post more as soon as I get them

This is a lovely interview with Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie. They are openly affectionate, at one point Angelina touches his face, and very complementary of one another’s performances. It’s just darn cute.

Angelina and donned a sculpted yellow and black Armani Prive for the 2009 BAFTA awards at the Royal Opera House in London, England today.  She topped of the outfit with with Christian Louboutinn shoes and a diamond Asprey bracelet. This is the first time Angelina’s worn Armani Prive  this awards season. She wore Max Azria to the Critic’s Choice and SAG awards and a Atelier Versace to the Golden Globes.  Brad knocked it out of the park wearing a tux by his Tom Ford.

Unfortunately neither Brad nor Angie took home trophies from the “British Oscars”.   The Curious Case of Benjamin Button did win for best production design, make up and hair, and special visual effects. Kate Winslett beat out Angeline  in the best actress category for her role in The Reader. Mickey Rourke triumphed in the best actor category for his comeback role in The Wrestler

Our favorite couple came away with nada last night but they still managed to dazzle fellow actors and fans with their red carpet style.  Brad wore Tom Ford and Angelina donned Max Azria. Royal blue isn’t a color that Angelina usually wears. How do you like it? What about the style?

Brad and Angie have traveled the globe over the last few weeks with all the award shows and Benjamin Button premiers. We fans surely appreciate it.

Oscar nominations came out this morning. Congratulations go out to Angelina and Brad who were nominated for their work in The Changeling and Benjamin Button.. (It’s not been a great awards season for them so we’ll need to keep our fingers crossed.)

Angelina had this to say about her nomination: “Working with Clint Eastwood was a reward in itself that will last me a lifetime. It has been an exceptional year for acting, and I am honored to be in the company of these talented actors who performances all deserve this recognition.”

She was also pleased to see Kung Fu Panda received a nomination. “I am also happy that ‘Kung Fu Panda’ was noticed by the Academy and proud to be a part of a film my entire family loves so much.”

Angelina Jolie and Brad Pitt helped kick off major award season tonight.  Angelina was stunning in an Atelier Versace gown, Jimmy Choo “Emma” Satin Sandals and jewelry by by Neil Lane. Angie’s flowing locks were coiffed by celeb hair stylist David Babaii. Her makeup artist was Mary Burton. Stylist Jennifer Rade coordinated the look. Brad donned a simple Tom Ford(no surprise there) tux for the show.

It’s interesting that Angelina is choosing lighter colors this year. The color of this gown is very similar to the one she wore for the Critics Choice Awards last week. Angelina and Brad didn’t taken any trophies home this evening. Mickey Rourke won out in the Best Actor category for The Wrestler while Kate Winslett won Best Actress for Revolutionary Road.

You can find more information on Angelina’s fashion team after the gallery.  I usually know a little about who’s doing what with Angie fashion wise but thanks to Just Jared, I was able to research her entire Golden Globe team.

I’m not sure how often Angelina uses Babaii but he’s got a quite a reputation. He and Kate Hudson recently launched an eco-friendly haircare line thatbenefits Wildaid.  Wildaid is a non profit that helps reverse environmental damage to wildlife. His other clients include Uma Thurman, Nicole Kidman, Scarlett Johansson, Sarah Jessica Parker, and Gwyneth Paltrow.

Mary Burton worked with Angelina on the set of Mr. and Mrs. Smith. Other film credits include Die another Day and X-Men.

Jennifer Rade is Angelina’s long time stylist which means she’s done everything from edgie Angie to her recent softer looks.  According to her website, she “styled” Angelina for the recent cover Brad shot for W magazine.  I doubt she stylist for the breastfeeding photo. That was probably more off the cuff which is why it’s so endearing.

Even thought they didn’t win the CC’s Best Actor and Best Actress awards(Sean Penn, Anne Hathaway and Meryl Streep snagged those) Angelina and Brad were indeed winners at the Critics Choice Awards. Reporters gushed over the duo’s fabulous attire and Brad’s chivalrous ways.

At least one tabloid(take with a grain of salt people) reported that the pair were very romantic all night long. According to US magazine, kissing and hugging throughout the ceremony. The anonymous attendee even insist that Brad had his hand up Angie’s dress at one point.  (That’s no much of  stretch considering that slit.)

Angelina gushed about her man’s performance in Benjamin Button. “Most of all I was charmed by him when he was younger,” she said. “I was charmed by it. When I first saw the film, there were a lot of blue masks that they had to put on his face, so the first half I didn’t see his acting inside the little guy. Then, when I saw him when he was young … he is just so charming. I was really moved. I thought he was wonderful.”

Angelina also reiterated that she’s working a lot less. (She’s already cut back a great deal as the family has expanded.)  Angelina said: “I’ve had a year off, and I may work for a few months. But if I do, I’m probably going to take another year and a half or two. I’m going to work a lot less.”

Whenever Angelina says she’ll work less people often come back after she’s released some movies and criticize her. The truth is it might do an animated feature which may take a week or so and a full length feature and it looks like she done a lot more than she does.   Angelina’s next scheduled project is Salt, a spy thriller.

E Online’s Mark Malkin gushes over Angelina Jolie and Brad Pitt at the Critic’s Choice. He even talks about what a gentlemen Brad is.

Angelina Jolie and Brad Pitt lit up the red carpet at this year’s Critics Choice Awards. Angelina wore whimsical Max Azria dress, matching Stuart Weitzman shoes, Mikimoto jewels and a Herve Leger clutch. (That’s a moth full of designer dudes.)

At first I thought her hair was up but her straightened hair is actually in a ponytail. Brad wore a Tom Ford suit, one of his perennial favorites. The Changeling received three Critics Choice nominations. Brad’s Benjamin Button got eight nods.  As soon as I know the winners you’ll know.

What a difference a year makes.  At last year’s CC Awards Angelina wore a clinging black dress.  Twenty days later she wore a billowy dress at the SAG awards starting pregnancy speculation.  A year later they’ve added two Jolie-Pitts to the fold.  On to the photos.  Enjoy!

We’ve got video of Angelina and Brad at the Independent Spirit Awards!! Ms. Wobblybits(fabulous former writer of this blog) thinks the belly looks weird. What say you? Too low? Too high? Oddly shaped? I don’t guess there’s any standard way pregnant women look but it’s fun to speculate. Now I’ve heard that if you carry your baby low, like Angelina appears to be doing, it’s a boy. Maybe it’s two boys… Okay I’m going to let the twin thing go because there is absolutely nothing to suggest that’s true.

Anyone know who designed Angelina’s dress? We’ve got the 411 on the jewels and shoes already. I’m still waiting on due date guesses. I feel a contest coming on.
