Video: More of Angelina’s Bump at the Spirit Awards

Sunday, February 24th, 2008

We’ve got video of Angelina and Brad at the Independent Spirit Awards!! Ms. Wobblybits(fabulous former writer of this blog) thinks the belly looks weird. What say you? Too low? Too high? Oddly shaped? I don’t guess there’s any standard way pregnant women look but it’s fun to speculate. Now I’ve heard that if you carry your baby low, like Angelina appears to be doing, it’s a boy. Maybe it’s two boys… Okay I’m going to let the twin thing go because there is absolutely nothing to suggest that’s true.

On to the show.

Anyone know who designed Angelina’s dress? We’ve got the 411 on the jewels and shoes already. I’m still waiting on due date guesses. I feel a contest coming on.

Angelina Jolie Shows Off Baby Bump at Spirit Awards

Sunday, February 24th, 2008

brangindy.jpg

Well it can’t be denied now. Angelina is definitely pregnant. She wore a clingy floor length black silk-crepe dress at tonight’s Independent Spirit Awards which were held in Santa, Monica.

brangindy2.jpg

Our diva is also wearing Irene Neuwirth jewels and Christian Louboutin shoes. She does love that line of shoes. Brad’s gotten rid of the facial hair and is looking very Robert Redford(they have almost exactly the same jaw line.) Too bad, I liked the goatee.

Again, Angelina was nominated for A Mighty Heart but didn’t take home the trophy. Ellen Page from Juno won the Best Leading Actress. Somehow, I don’t think she’s too worried about it. Any guesses as to how far along she is? Do you think it’s twins?

Bit O Trivia: The Independent Spirit Awards were founded in 1984 and originally called the Findies(Friends of Independent Films).

More pics after the cut.

Angelina Receives Outstanding Performance of the Year Award

Monday, February 4th, 2008

Note: We’ve had some technical difficulties at 451 Press. I apologize for not posting about this event up earlier.

sbiff.jpg

With Brad by her side, the Santa Barbara International Film Festival honored Angelina for her work in A Mighty Heart. Clint Eastwood(who most recently directed her in The Changeling) presented her with the award.

sbiff8.jpg

Angie also took the stage to answer a few questions about her career and family.

  • She still thinks highly of her ex-husband Billy Bob Thorton(well at least his acting ability). “I thought he was an amazing artist, and still is.”
  • Just before screening a clip of the tango scene from Mr. and Mrs. Smith, Angelina said she and Brad’s dancing is about the same. “I think we’re about equal,” she replied. “Equally not so good.”

sbiff7.jpg

  • She isn’t technologically savvy. “As Brad knows, I don’t really how to turn on a computer.”
  • She and Brad were both reluctant to take on their roles in Mr. & Mrs. Smith, but “obviously I’m very glad I did it – It changed my life.”
  • When asked if her humanitarian efforts were a greater passion than acting, she selected the obvious  third answer. “I love being a mom, and I think that’s my big passion: being with my family.”

SAG Video: Angelina During Best Actress Announcement

Here’s some pretty cool video of Angelina during the Best Actress portion of the ceremony. Even though she lost it’s still nice to see her being honored.

Angelina and Brad Arrive at the SAG Awards

Monday, January 28th, 2008

sag2008.jpg

I apologize profusely for the lateness of this post but I helped plan a HUGE(about 700 people) party for work that was held last night. I’ll certainly do better now that it’s all over with. On to the cuteness.

Angie and Brad truly look adorable. Angie is wearing a mahogany-colored gown by Julianne Cairone “with an abstract version of the Hermes horse print from Cairone’s one-of-a-kind Rare Vintage collection.” Rumors are abuzz that the chic, lose fitting Jolie-Pitt pregnancy. As with all pregnancies time will tell.

Unfortunately, Angelina didn’t win. She again lost to Julie Christie who was honored for her work in Away From Her.

I’m going to split this up into two posts. The first will be arrival pictures and the next will be inside the venue.

Angelina Jolie Nominiated for NAACP

Sunday, January 13th, 2008

jolie-mariane.jpg

Amid some controversy, Angelina has been nominated for her work in A Mighty Heart. This is Angie’s fourth nomination for the role of Mariane Pearl in the heart wrenching true life story. She’s also been nominated for a Golden Globe, a Critic’s Choice, and a SAG award. Other nominees in Outstanding Actress category are:

Halle Berry - “Things We Lost In the Fire” (Dreamworks), Jill Scott - “Tyler Perry’s Why Did I Get Married?” (Lionsgate Films), Jurnee Smollett - “The Great Debaters” (The Weinstein Co.), Taraji P. Henson - “Talk To Me” (Focus Features)

Generally speaking folks seem to be hacked off because Angelina herself isn’t a person of color. I had some of the same concerns but once I saw how tastefully Angie was made to look like Mariane my fears were put to rest. There was also the fact that Mariane herself supported and approved the casting decision.

According to the Image Awards website, the award is mean to honor “the outanding achievement and preformances of people of color in the arts(motion picture, television and recording), as well as individuals or groups who promote social justice through their creative endeavors.

Sounds to me like Angie fits the bill. Good luck Angie.

The NAACP awards will air on Fox on February 14th.

Angelina and Brad Attend Critic’s Choice Awards

Tuesday, January 8th, 2008

Looks like we did get a little red carpet glamor after all. Brad and Angelina attended the 13th Annual Broadcast Critic’s choice awards Tuesday night. Angie was up for Best Actress. Unfortunately she was beat out by Julie Christie who stared in Away from Her. Angelina is wearing her favorite peakaboo black heels. I can’t see the complete dress but the top looks a great deal like one she wore at the Jesse James premier(different straps though). I’m so glad to see Brad finally rid of the cap. Apparently the color has been corrected from the Burn After Reading shoot. He’s also sporting a goatee which I find very fetching. I love men with goatees.

Hosted by DL Hughley, this was the first time the ceremony aired on television. Click below for more photos and a complete list of winners.

Golden Globes Update

Monday, January 7th, 2008

bradanglie-golden-globes.jpg

Here’s what we can expect for Sunday’s Golden Globes per an email to the studio heads.

At 7pm NBC will air Dateline with clips and interviews with nominees. (Currently scheduled to air for two hours on Saturday night.)

At 8pm, NBC is in talks with Dick Clark Enterprises for a one-hour retrospective/clip show.

At 9pm there will be a press conference covered by NBC News announcing the Golden Globe winners. (9pm-10pm)

At 10pm NBC will broadcast an “Access Hollywood” style, Golden Globes party show… visiting the various parties in Hollywood.

Maybe Angie and Brad will attend some of the parties and we can get a reaction if she wins for A Mighty Heart. We could get some of that Brad and Angie Hollywood glamor after all.  Stay tuned.  Keep your fingers crossed for Angie

Golden Globes Telecast Cancelled

Monday, January 7th, 2008

angelinanypemier.jpg

I’d always been of the mind that Angelina and Brad probably wouldn’t cross the picket line. Looks like the point is mute now. The Hollywood Foreign Press Association(the folks that give the Golden Globes) has announced a scaled down ceremony that won’t be televised. Despite efforts to find a middle ground, striking writers and studios couldn’t reach a compromise.

The HFPA will only announce the winners in a short ceremony(no writers needed). This should allow “winners to accept their awards and then head over to a press room for interviews and photos.”

We might still see Angelina and Brad in some capacity since they won’t have to cross picket lines. Still it’s a bummer that we won’t get the glamor of the red carpet.

Angelina Jolie Nominated for SAG Award

Thursday, December 20th, 2007

beowulflondon6.jpg

What a a couple of weeks it’s been for Angie. She’s garnered another Best Actress nomination for her work in a Mighty Heart(last week it was the Golden Globes). I don’t know if she’ll actually appear at the SAG Awards but it’s more likely. SAG got a waiver for writers to work on the show so she wouldn’t be crossing a picket line. I’m sure Brad and Angelina are going to have to think seriously about crossing the Golden Globe and Academy Awards strike lines.  Those two shows didn’t get the Writers Guild waiver. It’s understandable because SAG has been extremely supportive of the writers.

Congratulations Angie and Brad(he was the producer after all). You deserve it.

Angelina Receives Outstanding Performance Award

Tuesday, October 16th, 2007

jolie-pearkcanne.jpg

The Santa Barbara International Film Festival announced yesterday that Angie will be honored with the festival’s Outstanding Performance of the Year Award for her work in A Mighty Heart. Angie delivered a breathtaking performance as Marianne Pearl, wife of slain journalist Daniel Pearl.

We are honored to celebrate Ms. Jolie in what is arguably one of the most extraordinary female roles of the year,? Festival executive director Roger Durling said in a statement.

There was a lot of controversy when Angelina was give this role because she was not a woman of color. One of the former authors of this blog even voiced concern. Marianne is of Afro-Latino-Cuban and her skin tone is a light caramel color. As a person of color, I was concerned about the casting(despite my love for Angelina) but she pulled it off beautifully(no weird makeup tricks).

marianneangie.jpg

My fears were further waylaid when I learned that Marianne specifically wanted Angelina to play her.

In the film, Jolie portrays her friend, Mariane Pearl, during the two-week period between when her husband, a reporter for the Wall Street Journal, was kidnapped and when he was murdered by terrorists in Pakistan in 2002. The movie is based on Mariane Pearl’s memoir.

Angelina will be honored on February 2, 2008. Past recipients include Kate Winslet, Heath Ledger, and Helen Mirren. She’s definately in good company and some are suggesting this may be the start of an Oscar race.

The timing of the announcement and DVD release appear perfectly poised to kick-start a campaign to put Jolie in the Oscar race for best actress.

Congratulations to Angelina on her latest award.

Angelina Jolie’s 22K yellow gold jewelry

Wednesday, January 17th, 2007

Anglina’s always been one to start trends, and this may be her next trand. At Monday’s Golden Globes, Angie was wearing Bochic uncut diamond necklace, earings and bangles set in 22kt yellow gold with her grey St. John’s gown.

The jewelry is inspired by Indian jewelry, and each piece required hundreds of hours of manual work.

Bochic worked with Angelina’s stylist for the GGs, Jen Rade.

Could Angelina’s choice in jewelry have been influenced by her recent trip to India?
