Angelina Jolie Watch

Angelina Jolie and Brad Pitt contributed over $8 million to the Jolie-Pitt Foundation in 2006 according to their federal tax returns. Brad donated $4,402,317, and Angelina gave $4,123,613. The fund dispensed a little over $2 million to worth causes. Here’s how it broke down:

• $1 million to Doctors Without Borders (International Division)
• $1 million to the Global Action for Children.
• $137,935 to the Namibia Red Cross Action Program
• $100,000 to the Daniel Pearl Foundation
• $100,000 to Global Green U.S.A.
• $100,000 to Epidermolysis Bullosa Medical Research.(Epidermolysis Bullosa is a rare genetic disorder characterized by the presence of extremely fragile skin and recurrent blister formation, resulting from minor mechanical friction or trauma) Interesting to note that Cortney Cox and hubby David Arquette also support this cause.
• $20,000 went to an art park in Los Angeles. (If anyone knows the name of the park please let us know)
• $5,000 donations went to two orphanages that Angelina visited

These folks really do put their money where their mouth is.

As we learned earlier this month, Angelina and Brad have been working on a drama series that will be centered around international humanitarian work. The Hollywood Reporter has confirmed the project. Bourne Ultimatum co-writer Scott Burns is authoring the untitled drama series that will look at the “behind-the scenes politics of an international aid organization and chronicle the lives of humanitarian workers assigned to dangerous zones and the people in need they assist.”

Brad, Angelina and Burns, will serve as executive producers. Angie’s longtime manager Geyer Kosinski, will be the co-executive producer. Rumor has it that the project will be loosely based on humanitarian agency Doctors Without Borders.

Interestingly enough this partnership with HBO will mark the 10 year anniversary of Angelina’s breakout HBO project Gia. I’m keeping my fingers crossed that Brad and Angie will make some guest appearances.

US Weekly is reporting, that Angelina and Brad might be producing a drama that focuses on the humanitarian agency

A Doctors Without Borders rep seems to suggest there’s some truth to the story:

“Brad [Pitt]and Angelina have been supporters of ours for a long time. They have been meeting with us to learn more about our work. And they have been meeting with other people about a possible project.”

Doctors Without Borders, also known as Médecins Sans Frontières (MSF), is an independent international medical humanitarian organization that provides emergency aid to people affected by war, famines, epidemics, disasters of all kinds, or exclusion from health care in more than 70 countries.

Last year Brad and Angie’s Jolie-Pitt Foundation donated $1 million MFS.

At the time Angelina talked about the organization’s work worldwide.

“In the most troubled parts of the world — places that much of the world has abandoned — MSF is always there. I have seen these brave men and women working in war zones and horrific conditions and I deeply admire them.”

MFS is currently helping to manage an Eboloa outbreak in the Democratic Republic of Congo and delivering medical care to Indonesian earthquake survivors.

Those are just two things they are working on. The group is providing care in virtually every corner of the world

I’m sure that any proceeds from the possible show would go to help MFS. I was a bit suspicious of this story but the statement from a Doctors Without Borders representative suggests something is in the works. I’ve long admired this organization and would love to see a documentary or reality type series. What about you?
