People magazine had uncovered never before seen photos of Angelina Jolie at 23 months old. The shots were taken at older brother James Haven’s 4th birthday in 1977. Family friend and photography Charles Eastman says the focus was on James but that Angelina was an “independent bundle of energy.” Angelina and James’ mom Marcheline Bertrand wrote the names of every guest on the cake and held the birthday boy up so he could blow out the candles.

“She was very demonstrative to him,” Eastman remembers. “Jamie was very happy. He’s says the photos are a testament to Marcheline’s love for her children.

These pictures are a tribute to Marcheline,” he said. “She was generous, kind and smart and devoted her life to her kids. She had great class.”

Last week the state of California filed a tax claim against Marcheline Bertrand’s estate. According to TMZ, the deficit ridden state claims Angelina’s mom owed “$43,699 in back taxes — add on $10,924.75 in penalties and $$8,304.95 in interest, for a grand total of $62,928.70.”

Marcheline Bertrand passed away in January 2007 after a long battle with ovarian cancer. Angelina and brother James Haven split their mother’s $1.2 million dollar estate between them. Marcheline also left Maddox, Zahara and Shiloh,her only grandchildren at the time of her death, $100,000 each. In a hand written attachment to her will, she claimed that ex-husband Jon Voight still owed her $180,000 in spousal support. (If Jon Voight does owe the money it would more than cover Marcheline’s back taxes.)

Considering California’s budget crisis, I’m sure lots of estates will receive back tax notices. I’m not saying that the claims aren’t legitimate but when you are in a money crunch you really look at your books to find any extra cash. I’m sure lots of speeders have been summoned to court as well. I wonder if Angelina and James will really look into the claim or just pay the money.

Angelina Jolie and big brother James Haven hung out on the Salt’s Washington DC set Friday.  James, 35 serves on the board of Artivist which is a  “festival in Los Angeles highlighting movies that address human rights, animal rights, and environmental issues.”

At one point, James worked as a youth pastor at  Rick Steve’s Saddleback church (Rick Steve was embroiled in controversy because of comments he made during the California’s prop 8 battle. ) He’s still listed a member as being affiliated with the church on the Global Action For Children site, he serves on the advisory board for GAC

Last year  James made the rounds in Washington DC where he lobbied  legislatures on behalf of GAC.  I don’t know what else James is working on  besides Artivist and GAC.   (That’’s certainly enough.)  Does anyone know if he still works with Saddleback church?

Angie’s big brother James Haven joined Maddox for a visit with Angie today.  (The picture is actually in route.)  Anyone know what the LVTHN represents on Jame’s pullover?  Everyone is gathering.  Maybe these  babies are coming sooner rather than later.

Rumors started swirling yesterday that Angelina might join brother James Haven on the Hill to lobby for Global Action for Children. That was sorta right.

Today, the Washington Post confirmed that Angie is in DC. She, Pax and Maddox were spotted at the Air and Space Museum yesterday where lots of tourist took photos at a respectable distance. Mad wore a navy blue hoodie while Pax sported an olive green jacket. Pax also asked a lot of questions as the brothers toured Space Hall, Skylab and the WWI and WWII exhibits. (Guess he’s well versed in English now.)

Angie was actually in town to attend last night’s Vital Voices Global Leadership Awards gala. She’s also expected to be at the Council on Foreign Relations today. According to Policy Director Leila Nimatallah “She might” help James with the lobbying effort.

Marianne Pearl was one of the women honored at the Vital Voices Event for her reconcilliation work after the the death her her husband.

Here’s a bit ‘o information that I didn’t know. James is actually a youth pastor at “Saddleback Church, the SoCal evangelical megachurch run by Purpose-Driven Life author Rick Warren.” I knew he was a devout Christian but I had no idea he’d gone into ministry. He’s also on the advisory board for Global Action for Children. These two really have done their mom proud.

According to ETonline, our couple might have tied the knot this weekend in New Orleans. The rumor mill has it that Brad’s parents, Angie’s brother James and all four little Jolie-Pitts were at the ceremony. ET contacted Brad’s rep who had “no idea” if they’d gotten married.

Updated while writing: People reports there was no wedding this weekend. Too bad. Maybe next time. Cause we know there will be a next time.

FYI on origination of the rumor: Seems Star magazine started the whole mess by claiming to “exclusively” reveal that Brad and Angie tied the knot in the French Quarter.  The rag says we can get all the details in this week’s edition which hits stands Wednesday.  I might just buy this foolishness just see how, and if, they backtrack.  Wow, they really stepped in it this time.   Not that they care.  I honestly can’t believe that ET piggy backed off something Star printed.  That really surprises me.

You remember the big broohaha about Angelina, Jennifer and Brad hosting a pre-Oscar bash. The alleged showdown fizzled when Angelina and Brad didn’t show. Angie’s brother James is weighing in on the matter. He thinks(I emphasize the word THINK) that Angelina chose not to show in order to spare Jennifer’s feeling. Here’s the quote from Grazia magazine:

“Angie is an incredibly strong but also incredibly sensitive woman, and she would always be careful when another woman’s feelings are concerned. She’d go out of her way to make sure there was no situation that would hurt another woman because of her, and I’m talking about a situation like one of Brad’s ex partners or his ex-wife.”

Some people poo poo the notion but I’m not so sure. James and Angelina are very close and I’ll bet he knows her heart pretty well. On the surface, the Brad-Angelina-Jennifer business should be over and done with and maybe it is but you’ve got to remember that this was a very difficult situation for all parties involved and you can’t put a time limit on heeling.

Sheryl Crow says that neither she nor Jen were dumped. That actually makes me feel better about the entire situation. I don’t want to think that Brad broke up his marriage for anyone. In my humble opinion, Brad and Angelina felt a very strong connection but didn’t act on it physically until Brad and Jen were officially separated. It was not an ideal situation.  I think all parties did the best they could under the circumstances.  I’m sure Jennifer will find her prince charming soon.

Angie’s brother, James Haven, gushed about the Jolie-Pitt kids in a recent interview with People Magazine.

“They’re unbelievable,” Haven, 34, an activist for AIDS and human rights causes, tells Marie Claire in November’s issue. “Zahara likes to hide from Angie, who always knows, right when she walks in the room, that Z’s playing.”

Awww that’s cute. James also says that Pax has managed to say his name, “He didn’t know any English, and I hadn’t heard him say a word yet, so I wasn’t expecting it.’

James, an activist himself, is currently serving as a board member of Artivist, a group that merges art and activism. The organization is sponsoring an L.A. film festival from Nov. 8 - 9 that will feature films on Human Rights, Children’s Advocacy, Environmental Preservation, and Animal Rights.

He credits his sister for helping sparking is interest in helping others. “Angie was the catalyst. She’d say, ‘I just heard this is going on in Darfur …’ and I’d want to be involved.”

I just glanced at the website and saw films about everything from a beauty pageant for women with HIV/AIDS to an investigation of a notorious puppy mill owner.

If I lived anywhere near LA I’d be there every day and ever night. The subject matter is vast and brings light to all kinds of injustice in the world. Looks like big brother is following little sister this time around. Good for him. I applaud the work he’s doing.

It’s reported that James Haven has angered Brad Pitt after his excessively open conversation with various reporters lately. It seems, to me at least, that James has been telling everyone that will listen about his sisters relationship with Brad Pitt. The good news is that all conversations seem to be complementary.

According to Star magazine, Brad has near about had it with James. Brad is so upset because while Brad has been working to take media attention away from Angie and the kids, James is giving interviews that only fuel the paparazzi interest in the celebrity couple.

“To Brad, James is a wild card. He doesn’t know what he’ll say next,” the National Ledger quoted a friend of Brad’s. “Brad knows how close Angie and James are. But as hard as he tries to keep his life with Angie out of the public eye, James talks about them, and it’s gotten Brad hot under the collar,” another pal added.

According to other insiders, Brad is also angry that Angie’s brother gave an interview to a Euro mag, giving details about the actor’s relationship with Ange.

Friends are also concerned that Brad’s exasperation with James is driving a wedge between him and Jolie.

In an attachment in her Marcheline’s pen, she claims she is still owed $180,000 in spousal support from her ex-husband Jon Voight. She has also left Jolie’s children: Maddox, Zahara, and Shiloh $100,000 each. You would think by now that Jon would pay up.

It’s official - Angelina Jolie and Brad Pitt really did name Shiloh after James Haven - Well, according to James that’s what happened.

James claims he was originally given the name Shiloh - which means ‘messiah’ or ‘peaceful one’ - as a middle name by his and Jolie’s parents Jon Voight and Marcheline Bertrand, before they switched it at the last minute.

The 33 year old actor tells Grazia magazine, “At the last second, my parents gave me Haven instead. So it was very cool when Brad and Angie came to me and said: ‘We’re thinking of names and our favourite is Shiloh. We know that was your original name, so would that be Ok? I was almost in tears - I was so honoured.”

Angelina Jolie’s brother James Haven , recently told Grazia magazine: “There is no limit to the children she and Brad are adopting. It could be scores. I’ve never heard an end number in their conversations.” James also talked about how Jolie has changed Brad Pitt, why they work, and whether or not his sister really wears the pants in the family.

He talked about the rumors that Angie is controlling, “I have never seen any sign of tension between them. They make all their decisions together. It’s rubbish that she tries to control him. They have a balanced relationship; they each do their stuff. I’ve never seen moments where one is nagging or controlling the other.�? On how Brad changed Angelina: “Brad has changed my sister a lot. They have an extraordinary bond, but not on the usual level. Brad is so strong for her; when she feels vulnerable, he has the most incredible strength. She says she couldn’t have adopted more children after Maddox without him.”

And about their work, “The great thing about Brad and Angelina is that they really get each other’s sense of humor, and make each other laugh a lot. They talk about politics a great deal and are very creative together with the projects they are working on. If it keeps going the way it’s going, they’ll be together for life.”

James Haven told the Daily Mail that he believes Angelina is helping people because of their father’s actions while they were growing up. What I can’t figure out is how one plays into the other. What do you think? Are they connected?

If you thought Angelina Jolie’s brother was creepy after their overly affectionate Golden Globes kiss, you should here him talk about his sister’s curves. James Haven says he’s worried about his sibling’s famous body, claiming that she hasn’t been eating since their mother’s death.

“Angie has become very thin because she’s grieving,” Haven told U.K.’s The Mail on Sunday (March 25). “It’s even difficult for her to eat. I keep saying to her, ‘Don’t forget to eat.’”

Haven says his sister has lost weight since their mother, Marcheline Bertrand, passed away from cancer in January.

“But you know she doesn’t pay much attention to food anyway and she’s been going through a process of grief like me,” Haven says. “She has not wanted to eat, nor has she been able to.”

Haven adds that the family tragedy has strengthened his already disturbingly close bond with his sister.

“If Angelina understood something about missing parents before, she understands completely now,” he said. “Angelina and I are orphans, too, in a way. When you see those kids in orphanages, they cling to each other. And that’s exactly what they have — they have each other.”

And just in case you weren’t sufficiently skeeved out, Haven then goes on to muse about his single status.

“I’m a perfectionist by nature. Then, because I’m so close to Angie it’s like I’ve already got the perfect woman in my life and it’s hard for anyone else to live up to that.”
