Angelina Jolie Watch

Angelina Jolie wore her favorite puffy, black coat while filming in NYC yesterday. The coat come from North Face and I wondered how much it cost and if any were still available. The W Triple C coat provides “head-to-toe coverage.  The coat is “reminiscent of wrapping yourself in a mummy sleeping bag” but has “the flexibility of actually being able to walk, not hobble”

This bundle of goodness runs $299.  They do have some in stock. Unfortunately sizes are limited. Only medium  and large are left in black. It  also comes in a pale green, brown white.

Angelina continued to film in Washington Height NYC yesterday. She’s wearing the same suit she wore during Washington DC filming earlier this week. It also looks like the suit she wore while scaling walls on Thursday in approximately the same location. It’ll be interesting to see how they script Angie barefoot and bloody in two cities wearing the same outfit. If you have time to travel from place to place don’t you have time to grab a cheap pair of shoes?

The white haired gentleman you see with Angelina in the photos is director Phillip Noyce.  They worked in together in the Bone Collector. Enjoy the photos !

Angelina Jolie is  back in New York working on Salt.  Though Angie does have a stunt double reports suggest that’s she’s doing 90% of her own stunts.  In the latest photos, she’s wearing the  blonde wig she wore while shooting the traffic scenes in Washington DC.  She’s still sporting the same, most likely makeup induced, cut knee for the NYC shoot.

The scenes were shot in midtown Manhattan. That’s  also where she’s been spotted for early rehearsals and primary shooting. I’m not sure where Brad and the kids are. The family rented a Lloyd Neck, New York estate. Wonder if the rest of the family is at the estate or stays in the city while Angelina films. Maybe we’ll spot them out and about this weekend.  Enjoy the photos.

I’m loving this filming outside.  We’ve got more photos of Angelina in Washing DC filming Salt.  For today’s scenes, Angie kept her blond wig but added an injured knee, bloody hand and bare feet.  The photos suggest that Evelyn Salt is fleeing unseen attackers and escaping in a cab.

Folks in DC were surprised and happy to see Angelina running through their fair city. Fans waited to catch a glimpse. “Nothing — we’ve been waiting for a half hour but we’re very excited,” said Lori Jaber, a tourist.

“I was surprised at how short she is,” said DC employee Alexandra Kosmides. (Angie’s height is typically reported reported between 5′ 7-5′ 8. That’s not short but maybe this guy’s tall.)

There’s no word on when DC filming will rap. We fans should enjoy all the great photos while it lasts.

Fans and photogs spotted Angelina sprinting down Pennsylvania Avenue in Washington D.C. yesterday, working on her upcoming thriller Salt. Angelina and the blond wig get a work out as she runs, possibly to evade fictional captures, down  President Obama’s street.

“She’s been filming a sprint scene this morning where she runs down the street and before she ran, she runs in place to get warmed up.” and eyewitness told OK! magazine. “She was doing all of the stunts herself but her stunt double was walking her through everything.”

“She’s having a lot of fun and joking on set with the stunt double. She’s in a great mood and was laughing with [co-star] Liev Schreiber in between takes. There were some fans who were watching her shoot and she was waving to them,” the eye witness added.”

Expect more photos of Angelina around Washington as she films outdoor scenes around DC.

Angelina Jolie was out and about in Washington DC yesterday filming some of the first scenes for Salt. Angelina suited up in a black, possibly wool cap, camel colored coat and blond wig. In at least one of the photos  you can see co-star Liev Schreiber directly behind her. In the same photos, Angelina’s character, Evelyn Salt, wears a wedding ring.  The ring is most likely part of her disguise.   Evelyn Salt is a master of disguise, who even dresses as man to clear her name and evade capture.

According to the DCist, filming caused a bit of confusion. “People were accidentally walking through the set while trying to go to Starbucks. Pedestrians can walk through on 7th Street between the shots, but the extras look exactly like normal office workers, so it’s hard to tell what’s going on at first.”

We’ve got our second look of Angelina as Evelyn Salt. According to a press release from Sony Pictures, principal photography has begun.  Looks like the Angelina garners a lot of excitement, even among jaded Hollywood.

“It’s great to be working with Angelina once again. She’s the only one who could bring this character to life. Salt will be tense and exciting, everything that thriller audiences expect, but also with a strong, multi-dimensional character at the center,” gushed Phillip Noyce, who also directed her in The Bone Collector.

“It’s always a thrill to start production. It’s especially gratifying to work on redefining this genre with such a talented actress. Angelina is a rare combination of intelligence, emotional range, and physical ability,” said producer by Lorenzo di Bonaventura

THe DC Examiner reports that Angie and costars Liev Schreiber and Chiwetel Ejiofor, “began local shooting at the Mandarin Oriental Hotel on Wednesday morning.”

Filming is expected to take place throughout DC  including L’Enfant Plaza and the Navy Memorial.

Salt’s screenplay was written by Kurt Wimmer (The Recruit, The Thomas Crown Affair) and rewritten by Brian Helgeland (Mystic River, Man on Fire). In addition to di Bonaventura, Salt is produced by Sunil Perkash (Enchanted). Executive producers are Ric Kidney and Mark Vahradian.

What’s Brad up to in Washington DC ?

Brad was spotted on K Street yesterday(Wednesday) afternoon, possibly meeting with attorneys.   As I expected he’s making good use of the couple’s time in DC. He’ll meet with House Speaker Nancy Pelosi today(Thursday).  I imagine he’ll talk about Katrina recovery since George Clooney talked with president about Dafur last week. (The longtime friends founded Not on Our Watch with Don Cheadle and Matt Damon.)

And what did you do today?

Yesterday USA Today released the first photos of Angelina Jolie in Salt. Angelina plays Evelyn A. Salt, a CIA agent accused of spying for the Russians.  Maybe it’s true  maybe it’s  not.

“She’s a character you never know,” said producer Lorenzo di Bonaventura. “People who think they know the real her may or may not. Those who think they can tell whether she’s in a disguise also may or may not. You’re supposed to be kept guessing. She tells you her agenda, but are you supposed to believe it?”

“We know everything about her, but do we?’ (Her pursuers) have a ton of information to act on, but that’s where they begin to question what is real and what isn’t.”

Liev Schreiber plays Winter, Salt’s contact, ally and supervisor in the  Russia office.  Chiwetel Ejiofor is Peabody, a rival spy that tries to capture her.   The film producers had to rethink the Salt’s interpersonal relationship after the Angelina was cast. The role was originally intended for Tom Cruise.

“I had no idea how complex it would be,”  di Bonaventura  said. “We had to rethink the whole notion of how a man vs. a woman operates in the business world, in personal relationship and in friendships.”

Salts opens in 2010.

It appears that the family has settled in New York for Angelina’s Salt production.  She and Brad took the four oldest kids to see The Little Mermaid on Broadway.  The photos show the kids doing what kids do, Shiloh looks to be picking her nose, Zahara is sucking her thumb, Pax is sipping on some soft drink  while Maddox is the ever vigilant older brother.

The Little Mermaid is housed at the Lunt-Fontanne Theatre on West Street. Tickets prices range from $51.50 to $121.50. Prices for premium seating aren’t listed but somehow I’m sure Brad and Angie managed to muster up enough cash to secure those.

On the Salt front, we’ve got confirmation that Lieve Schreiber has joined the cast. It also looks as if British phenom Chiwetel Ejiofor is in negotiations.

Angelina donned her favorite basic black for Salt’s pre-production camera tests.  Click on the pics below an you’ll see that she’s carrying a copy of the New York  Times.  We can expect Angelina and the girls to leave New York soon.  The Oscars are Sunday night.

Angelina, and perhaps Brad, has traveled from the West Coast to the East Cost over the past few days.  Brad and Angie were spotted at the uber trendy Katsuya restaurant Sunday night.  One paparazzi asked Brad and Angie if they are trying to compete with Nadya Suleman aka OctoMom. Brad responded with a cheeky, “Yeah we sure we are.” This was the second trip for the couple who also had dinner their Friday.

Today Angelina was spotted apartment shopping in New York. The family will settle there while Angelina films the spy thriller Edwin A. Salt. They’ve already secured a Lloyd Neck estate. Angie’s probably trying to find something in the heart the city for when she has long shoots.

Angelina’s Salt character is a CIA agent who’s been accused of spying for the Russians.  She escapes capture and tries to prove her innocence.  Salt features at least one scene where Angelina goes undercover as a man in order to sneak into a the White House.   An “insider” talked with Life & Style about the coming transformation, “I’m sure she’ll give Brad [Pitt], who aged in reverse in The Curious Case of Benjamin Button, a run for his money in the makeup department.”

Though the film is very close to starting not everyone has been cast.  In fact, Liev Schreiber(Naom Watt’s baby daddy) is in talks to join the cast.  Phillip Noyce who last worked with Angelina in The Bone Collector will direct.  It’ll be nice to see Angelina do a bit of action.  Sounds they’ve got a strong team in the works.

Rumors are swirling that Angelina and Brad are set to rent a huge Lloyd Neck, New York estate while she films Salt. According Jon Cooper, a Suffolk county legislature they are renting estate called Sassafras. “They’re renting a house a couple of doors down from me … only for a few months.” Cooper that he received the information from “reliable sources.”

The $60 million waterfront property, which hasn’t been occupied for several years, “has 25 rooms, including eight bedrooms and 12 baths.”   The property’s guest house has 6 bedrooms, the staff house has 11 bedrooms.

The 48-acre estate was once listed as one of  Forbes’ 10 most expensive homes in North American.

The home is similar to the German and French homes the family has lived it.  The acerage surrounding the main house allows the  family to  play and enjoy the water without the paparazzi taking photos of them.   It’ll be interesting to see if Brad can keep the family out of sight while Angelina films in the United States.  Angelina’s been able to do it while Brad films in Europe but the U.S. press is very persistent

Angelina Jolie was able to snag her man away from his Inglorius Bastards shoot for the Changeling’s London photocall/private screenings.  He’s handsome and she’s stunning.  I don’t guess there’s much else left to say.  See the pictures below.

As part of her UK publicity tour, Angelina chatted with the BBC radio this morning. During the interview she confirmed that she’s working on a new film,“I’m working on a film called Salt. And it’s with [Bone Collector director] Phillip Noyce. And that’s it.” (Tom Cruise was previously attached to the project.)

Angelina has really slowed down her pace over the last few years. It seems like she’s constantly in the spotlight but the truth that we only see her working for a week a two a few times a year. She typically only does one full length feature a year(if that), usually adding an animated feature that  takes short time to record.

Angelina’s movies have grossed nearly a $1 billion this year.

Nooo Angelina hasn’t replaced Tom as the top celeb Scientologist. She’s taking over a movie role that was originally meant for Tom. The spy thriller Edwin A. Salt is being rewritten to reflect the likely gender switch. The film is about a “a CIA officer who’s accused by a defector of being a Russian sleeper spy and must elude capture long enough to establish her innocence.”

Cruise was attached to the project for some time but recently decided to let it go for good. Perhaps the project is too Mision Impossible for him?

It makes sense for the studio to change he script just for Angie. She practically guarantees a movie’s success.

After Universal beefed up Jolie’s role in “Wanted” and then marketed the action film squarely on Jolie’s shoulders and watched it gross $132 million domestically, Jolie reestablished, in the wake of “Mr. & Mrs. Smith,” that she is the rare female who is viable in the action genre, which has been almost the exclusive domain of men.

If all goes plan the action thriller could serve as Angelina’s return film after her maternity leave. There are also noises that Atlas Shrugged could be in the works sooner rather than later. Rumors have long suggested that Angelina and Brad are both being courted to star in the film. I doubt very seriously that they both sign on for the production. They’ve got six kids now. They didn’t work at the same time before. They certainly won’t do it now.
