Man Sues Over Angelina Jolie Charity Auction

A fan paid $30,000 a couple of years back for a charity auction with the promise that he’d meet Angelina Jolie but it never happened. Now the unnamed man is suing the Lili Claire Foundation for his 30k plus damages. The foundation released this statement to TMZ about the suit.
“The Lili Claire Foundation was formed 11 years ago to help children and their families cope with the medical and personal difficulties flowing from neurogenetic disorders, such as autism, Downs Syndrome and Williams Syndrome. Among other ways it raises funds, The Lili Claire Foundation holds charitable auctions. The Lili Claire Foundation has a 100% track record of honoring its commitment to donors and recipients with respect to every single auction item sold to support its charitable services. In the rare event that a sold auction item cannot be satisfactorily delivered to the winning bidder through no fault of our own, The Lili Claire Foundation works faithfully for an appropriate resolution with our bidder.”
The Lili Claire Foundation seems to be a legitimate organization with lots of genuine celebrity support, including Courtney Cox and Mathew Perry. I’m not sure how this all happened but two years seems like enough time for the foundation to refund this guy’s money and keep their reputation intact. In this economic climate, no charity can afford to incur any additional costs which is what a court battle will do.
I’ve never known Angelina to be involved with the Lili Claire Foundation. Auctioning off a meeting seems like something she’d do for a cause she’s intimately involved in. Hopefully the parties can work things out before it actually makes it to court.
