The Jolie-Pitts Suddenly Go Green?
Everyone is making a big deal about Angelina and Brad showing up in a Toyota Prius for the world premier of Beowulf. Brad has actually been a Prius owner for some time. While promoting his Green building project in New Orleans he admitted to owning two of cars.
Back in 2001 Brad suggested that energy issues should be one of George Bush’s top goals.
“We have the technology for electric cars, and we have other power sources. Yes, it would be expensive to make the switch over, but we could, and we would have complete autonomy from our need for oil. We would not have to rape Alaska, and we wouldn’t have to be dependent on those guys over there. In the long term, if we could free ourselves from the dependency of oil, we’d be alright.?
And that was before Angelina and before gas was averaging 3 bucks a gallon.
People grumble when Brad and Angie take private planes to their next movie locations. I don’t get what they want them to do. Sit in the airport while I stick a camera in their faces? Even the VIP lounge is going to be problematic.
Brad and Angelina go green whenever they can. This isn’t the first green vehicle they’ve been seen driving. They drove a hydrogen powered Audi car to one of the Ocean’s premier.
The Prius is a half hybrid-half gas auto that is slightly less boxy these days. It gets close to 50 miles a gallon. Other celebrity hybrid owners include Cameron Diaz, Leonardo DiCaprio, Carole King, Billy Joel, David Duchovny, Patricia Arquette, Gwyneth Paltrow, Ted Danson, Leonardo DiCaprio(of course), Jeff Goldblum, Billy Crystal, and Harrison Ford.

It also bears mentioning that as early as 2003, he and Jen were spotted driving a Prius. I definitely agree that while much is made of the current trendiness of environmental issues, Brad has been conscious of them for a long time.
